Battery Park Landfill

This work is early Mary Miss and is more installation art then functional architecture however I felt it showed an artistic side as well as a propensity towards experimenting with space and viewer interaction. I feel this, because the simple work of flat boards with holes bored through them creating a imaginary tunnel into the barren industrial landscape of this landfill. The viewer would have to move around the rather larger structure and view it from a number of angles to really feel the presence of this tunnel crafted from implied space and structure.  I appreciate this work not only because it’s a neat visual trick, but also because it really serves no purpose other then to make the viewer ponder.
