Story

The Tower of Balel was thought to be built during Hammurapi’s reign, but we do not know much of its existence from that time. However during Nebuchadnezzar II’s reign there is documentation of a ziggurat that was old enough to be the same ziggurat from hammurapi’s reign.

The Babylonian name of the ziggurat built in Nebuchadnezzar II’s reign was Etemenanki meaning “House of the platform of Heaven and Earth”.  This ziggurat is thought to be the Tower of Babel from Hammurapi’s reign. Sadly the ziggurat was in ruins after 331 BC when Alexander arrived in Ancient Egypt.
