For whatever reason, students seem to have strong feelings about poetry. There rarely seems to be a middle ground -they either love it or hate it. Interestingly, most have a difficult time explaining why, or coming up with anything more than an emotional response that isn't supported with rational argumentation.

Your task is to write a full page of prose, single-spaced, defending your opinion about poetry. Use whatever means necessary to support your opinion; cite examples of poems you like, (but remember you are expected to provide a full page of prose), cite experiences you've had in the past, or whatever issues come to your mind to establish and defend your position on poetry.
