Short
Story Critiques.
So
far this year, we have spent a lot of time analysing short stories. We’ve
pulled them apart to look at plot, character setting and theme, and we
have dissected them to look for literary devices such as irony, foreshadowing,
repetition, metaphor & symbolism, and the 5-way sentence.
While there is no doubt that the authors of these stories worked hard
to create the literary devices they’ve employed, the primary goal
is to entertain.
Your challenge is to write a full page, single-spaced response citing
your favourite story from our short story unit. You should also explain
why you found it an enjoyable reading experience. You are entitled to
write about the merits of more than one story if you found others, but
your primary goal is to articulate your thoughts; what is it about the
story you chose that made it your favourite read?
