***SPECIAL FEATURES

*Be specific i.e. .gender, age, and income. To determine this, look at the types of products advertised. Who would be interested in, or could afford to purchase, these items?

**determine a full page equivalent. (i.e. - 2 half page ads = 1 full page of advertising)

***Special features include items that you don't get in every edition of the magazine. For example, National Geographic puts a map insert in 6 of 12 magazines a year. Other magazines put out special "season" editions, to commemorate the unveiling of a new line of product, or new season of event. These would be considered "special features". Even if you don't have a special feature in the edition of the magazine you are using, you can list special features that you know the magazine in question offers.

NEXT PAGE take advantage of the next page to write down comments about how each magazine addresses the following: Use of colour, length of article, size and relevance of pictures, use of language. To provide comments for the back sheet, you need to read at least one article (minimum 1 pg in length) to get a sense of the style of writing.
