Online Poetry project.

Your challenge is to take one poem that has some meaning to you, present the poem, and, to the best of your abilities, explain everything you can about the poem.  Explain the form, and of course, explain the content.  Pick apart the poem and offer insight at every opportunity.  Simply stated, you must answer the question, “What is the poem about?”

In many cases you are probably very familiar with the poet in question, and therefore you should also provide as much insight to the poet as possible.  Is the message or form of this poem common for this artist?  Are there personal experiences the poet endured that influence his or her work?

The extra component of this project that is significant is the way it will be presented.  All students will make a WEBSITE That provides the necessary information.  The website must be placed in my inbox (in my shared folder) so it can be presented online.  In addition to the poem, it would be a good idea to provide links to other relevant works, perhaps a website devoted to the poet, and links to other relevant items of interest.  It is MANDATORY that you provide a WORKS CITED PAGE for all the materials you used to help you create a better understanding of your poem.

NOTE:  With the exception of the poem itself, it is a very bad idea to present the work of others as your own.  Many people visit the ECM 12 website and it would be very embarrassing if I received an e-mail from someone thanking me for posting his material on the ECM 12 website.  Quote material when necessary, but always give credit to the source you got it from.  Better yet, find a way to combine the new knowledge with your prior knowledge, and  put it in your own words
