Creating an Article of Persuasion

Analyse the issue:

• What part of the issue do you feel most strongly about?
• What parts do you have less of an issue against?
• What arguments do others who disagree with you use to support their views?
• In other words, do you agree or disagree 100% with the argument?

Analyse Yourself:

• WHY do you feel the way you do?
• Even if you stand by your opinion firmly, do you see the other side of the argument? Can you understand why others don’t necessarily feel the same way as you?
• Are your opinions formed purely out of self-interest?

THE ASSIGNMENT:

Your task is to clearly define your stance on the issue of your choice. Organise your thoughts, \and present them in a 500-word response. In addition to organizing your supporting arguments, you should familiarise yourself with the opinions of those who disagree with you, find out their arguments, and challenge them in your essay.

REMEMBER:

There is more to this assignment than simply stating your opinion the issue. You should also organise you arguments so you can present them in a logical and convincing manner. In short, explain not only what you feel, but also why you feel that way. After that, the next task is to explain why those who don’t share your opinion should reconsider their thinking.
