Of Mice and Men – Projects

Project 1 – Mini Classic.

Project 2 – Newspaper. (if time permits)

Your challenge is to create a mini novel of Of Mice and Men by condensing each chapter into one image and one quote. You are expected to draw the images, and print out the quotes. The size of your mini classic should not exceed 10 x 7 cm. All images should be coloured. Don’t forget to include a cover for your book. In addition to this, you must pass in a 150 word report explaining the images / quotes you chose and why you think they sum up the chapter. As always, neatness counts.

Project #2 – newspaper.

Your challenge is to create a newspaper from the time and place of the book. Make sure you make your paper look like a newspaper. Tabloid style newspapers (like the daily News will be much easier to create than a broadsheet (like The Chronicle-Herald or Mail Star).

Your paper should be the size of a piece of letter-sized paper. Four pages (or 2, double-sides for a more authentic look). In length.

Make sure you strive to make your paper look like a real paper. Take into consideration the use of colour (probably not very common in the 1930s), columns, Don’t forget to add pictures, advertisements, and different sections to your newspaper. Local news, national and international news, not to mention sports, obituaries, and classified ads are all common parts of just about any newspaper.

This project is tentative, depending on available time.
