The Religious Revolution of the 20th Century

For hundreds of years the church and the state were one and the same religious political power. Religion would be the final say in moral values and new "threatening ideas" were swiftly dealt with such as the idea that the world is round and that all matter is made up of atoms.

During the 20th century things started to change. The industrial revolution which occured in a few major waves would be the start of the corporation having increasingly more power over the state than the church. During the 1970's punk rockers began to apear on stages across the english speaking world, and by the time we hit the 80's the music scene was undergoing a 'punk revolution'. During which punks would begin to speak out against the injustices of 'the system', sold out hippies and their own parents. Their expression of injustice soon turned into bitterness and rage. The rock had been removed from punk rock.

What are we left with? A burnt-out punk music scene, a bunch of rebels without a cause, if you'll excuse the cliche, and less and less power afforded to the church along with fewer and fewer people who wtill have a strong religious background. More and mroe people are fiunding their spirituality and realising they don't need God to be saved from their selves.
