A Brief History |
The Notre-Dame-la-Grande is located in the heart of Poitiers, France. The church dates back to the 11th century. The façade was built in the 12th century. In the 15th and 16th centuries chapels were added onto the south of the choir. It was damaged during the wars of religion (1562-1569). That was when several statues of the façade were beheaded. |
