Structure

It is obvious to see that the structure of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is very complex and that it was built with a lot of hard work from many people over the course of a number of years.

Most of the Cathedral was built from materials found in near by quarries. Maurice de Sully (the man behind the idea of building Notre Dame) laid the first stone in the creation of this beautiful and timely masterpiece.

The Cathedral has a magnificent rose window, it is the last window left from the original design because the others have been replaced over the years. In front of the rose window there is a statue of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus. It has also been said that the Cathedral was designed to make people look up, at the ceiling, it is made to look like the sky. There are also a number of towers in the cathedral.
