What I Did: I placed two photos of myself in the painting, wearing bowler hats. One is leaning on the man and the other is holding up the apple.
I intended this work to: The first step in completing this assignment was finding a painting in which to edit myself into. Thinking to the movie “The Thomas Crown Affair” I remember the painting “Son of Man” having a small significance in the movie and that seemed to one of few paintings to ever strike my interest. I am not sure why it interested me; just the oddity of the man standing there got me. So now that I had a painting I had to do something with it. A big part of the painting is that the apple is floating, so because the project was to change it, I decided to make myself holding up the apple. This worked out well because there is a ledge behind the man, so instead of me floating there, I made myself standing on the ledge and reaching around to hold the apple in front of the man’s face. Also another big part of the painting is the man’s bowler hat, because of this I decided to get a picture of a bowler hat and edit onto my head. After that I thought I was done but Mr. Syme suggested that I balance it out and put another picture of me doing something on the other side. So got a picture of me leaning against the wall and edited into the project image so that I was leaning on the man. After that, I added another bowler hat, touched up the image and finally I was done.
