General info: 30 St. Mary Axe is located in London England
in the finantial district. Designed by Norman Foster and partners, it
won the 2004 Stirling prize from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
It was designed in 1997, during the neo-modern era of architecture in
the twentieth century period. One of the first environmentally sustainable
skyscrapers. The intention of the design was to forge a connection with
nature. Although other pieces of high tech modern architecture have
done this in the past this is the first high rise building to do this. |
