CAREER ACCESS STUDENTS

IN ART 10

Since students in Career Access attend approximately 1/4 of all regular Art 10 classes, the performance expectations for each student have been adjusted to correspond with their attendance.

Therefore, the typical student in Career Access will be assessed on their willingness and success at completing the following projects.

Art Journal: (50%)

Art Journal requirements

All regular Art Journal work is to be completed. In Art 10 students are expected to complete 2 drawings, each taking 1/2 an hour, per week. See Art Journal Assignment page for details. There should be 36 acceptable drawings in each term accompanied by written reflections. If the student needs ideas, see the teacher.

Class projects (2 major works): (25%)

Students in CA are encouraged to participate in all regular class projects. However, seeing that some projects are experienced over extended periods of time, being absent from class will mean that the student may miss demonstrations, instructions, and time to work hands on. CA students are expected to complete any two of the following projects.

  • Fundamentals (gestures, drawing exercises)
  • Self in context
  • block printing
  • 2pt perspective
  • Painting
  • sculpture
  • photoshop / art history project

Art Journal cover design (collage): (15%)

As a project to build upon, as students in CA you are encouraged to assemble a collage which documents yourself and your place in a culture as you define it. Details of this project will follow.

Class Mark: (10%)

Since an efficient, friendly, cooperative, and trustworthy climate is necessary for students to perform your best work, all students in Art 10 All students will be assessed on such things as:

  • being prepared for class ( having a Art Journal and a pencil with them for each class)
  • being cooperative and willing to work as a team
  • participating in all tasks
  • attendance. This includes an expectation that you will always be to class on time.
