Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada 2017

When: July 17 to August 6, 2017

The Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada is a three-week exchange for Canadian students and adult mentors to visit the United States. The g oals are ro promote mutual understanding between the United States and Canada, increase leadership skills, and position youth to make a difference in their communities. Applications are competitive. No cost to apply. All travel expences are covered by the Youth Ambassadors Program.

Requirements for Youth applicant: Canadian citizen, 15 - 18 years old. At least 4 months of highschool remaining (no June 2017 grads); demonstrated interest in the US; commitment to implement community service project; interested in home stay experience.We especially encourage applicants who have not visited the USA, who are new Canadians; or who are of indigenous heritage.

Saint Mary's University - University Prep Spring-Summer Program

SMU's university prep courses are designed for students who wish to improve a grade or are missing a required course for admission to post secondary studies.

The folowing courses will be offered: English; Mathematics, Mathematics (Online); Pre-Calculus Term I; Pre-Calculus Term II; Biology (Online); Chemistry, and Physics.

Marine Mammal Summer Camp 2017

This summer, the Faculty of Science at Saint Mary's University, in partnership with the canadian Whale Institute, will host their fifth annual Marine Mammal Summer Camp for students ages 14 - 17. This is an excellent opportunity for youth with a keen interest in marine life to gain hands-on research experience alongside marine mammal experts. It will take place at two locations: Saint Mary's, Halifax, NS, and Campobello Island, NB, from Saturday August 5th to Monday, August 14th.

Deadline to Apply: Friday, April 7, 2017.

Cost: $1500 which includes accomocations, nutritious meals/snacks, transportation to and from camp activities as well as supplies and materials for all research activities and experiments (with the exception of appropriate weather-related gear for rainy conditions). A limited number of bursaries for students with financial need are available and the application can be provided upon request.
