ECM 12—DESIGN-A-COUNTRY

 

 

Have you ever thought about being the political leader of a county?  Maybe you have thought about what a county would be like if you had the power and influence to create it, run it and make the laws.  If so, then this assignment should appeal to you.

 

You are the political leader of a modern-day country.  For this assignment, you need to decide several important questions:

 

1.              What is your name?

 

2.            How did you become leader?

 

3.            What is the name of your country?

 

4.            What does it look like on a map?

 

5.            What does its flag look like?

 

6.            What languages are spoken there?

 

7.            What is the year-round climate like?

 

8.            Does your country have rivers and lakes, mountains and plains?

 

9.            Is your country surrounded by water on any of its borders?

 

10.         What is the currency used in your country?

 

11.          What is its capital city and where is it located?

 

12.         What are your country’s natural resources?

 

13.         What are the three leading imports and exports? (3 imports, 3 exports)

14.         What is the population?

 

15.         What is the system of government?

 

16.         What are the five most important laws in your country?

 

17.         What are the five most common forms of punishment in your country?

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Once you have considered these important questions, you should be ready to start this assignment.  The requirements for this assignment are as follows:

 

1.              Your country must be an original creation.

 

2.            On the computers (using a program called “Paint”) Draw and color a detailed map of your country, showing landforms, bodies of water, cities, towns and anything else that would be considered important. 

 

3.            On the computers (using a program called “Paint”) Create and color a flag for your country and explain  the choices you made in designing your flag.

 

4.            The information about your country (the answers to the above questions) must be provided on a WEBSITE (you have a program called “Dreamweaver” in your NAL window) that must include your map and flag.

 

5.            Hand in the final project in my shared folder. Instructions in "Project" sectionof the website.
